Singer and former 'Lizzie McGuire' actress Hilary Duff has revealed that she loves Selena Gomez and thinks the talented young starlet made the right decision in stepping out of the spotlight for a while. 

In August, Selena Gomez told fans that she would be taking some time out to work on her mental health and Duff praised the bold move during an interview on the 'Just Jenny' podcast: "I think the saving grace is, [Selena Gomez] makes great music. Tons of people love her..."

She went onto add that the hitmaker shouldn't worry about rumours and tabloid reports because her fans will know that they make up stories for the sake of generating income and people who respect her won't buy into that: "The public is smart to gossip magazines and that they're just trying to make money. At the end of the day they love those people and they love their music."

Selena Gomez herself told Vogue Australia that having to deal with the constant gossipregarding her love life really irritates her: 

"For a while my private life was the most talked about thing. Nobody really knows everything and they can only assume. You want to do what you love but all this other stuff overshadows it so it makes it a little harder for people to take me seriously."
