Solange tops US chart with new album 'A Seat at the Table'

Solange has reached No.1 on the US albums chart with her new effort 'A Seat at the Table'.

The singer's effort sold 1,000 more copies than Bon Iver's '22, A Million' to top the Billboard 200 for the first time.

The record shifted a total of 72,000 sales - but they were digital only as the physical release of 'A Seat at the Table' will follow on November 18.

Solange and sister Beyoncé are only the third sibling duo to both reach No.1 in the US.

Michael and Janet Jackson also achieved the feat, as well as Master P and his brother Silkk the Shocker.

With Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' also reaching No.1 this year, the Knowles sisters are the first siblings to have chart-topping records in the same year since Michael Jackson's 'Invincible' and Janet's 'All for You' hit No.1 in 2001.
