Rod Stewart becomes Sir Rod after receiving knighthood

Rod Stewart was knighted on Tuesday (October 11) for his services to music at charity.

The singer became a sir after Prince William led the ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.

Stewart previously called the knighthood a "monumental honour".

The 71-year-old was accompanied to Buckingham Palace by his wife Penny Lancaster and his children Alastair and Aiden.

The singer released his debut album 'An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down' in 1969.

He achieved his first No.1 in the UK with the record 'Every Picture Tells a Story' two years later.
