Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson defends Lily Allen saying she 'should be celebrated'

Ricky Wilson, from the Kaiser Chiefs, has defended Lily Allen after she came under fire for her comments about the Calais Jungle and refugee crisis.

She visited the migrant camp in Calais earlier this year and apologised 'on behalf of the UK' for the way the people there had been treated.

Speaking to the NME about Lily Allen's authenticity and willingness to be open about the things she believes in, he explained that it's rare in the age of social media popularity contests to have a star both embrace and discuss difficult issues so publicly:

"Lily is special and we should celebrate her. She’s one of the last real mavericks – not afraid to lose twitter followers over an opinion. She acts like she doesn’t give a fuck at the same time as caring for everybody, even the rotters. I don’t claim to know her very well, but am proud to know her and long may she reign.”
