Singer Alessia Cara will be honoured at Billboard's Women in Music event later this month. 

The ceremony is set to take place in New York next week and the 'Wild Things' star will be presented with the Rule Breaker award. The prize, according to Billboard, "celebrates a boundary-pushing female music star whose approach defies the conventional".

She tweeted about the exciting news last night and thanked Billboard for recognising her talents: "Never thought I would be awarded for breaking rules. this is so so so cool. thank u, @billboard xx."

Other honourees include Halsey, who will receive the Rising Star award, Meghan Trainor, who is set to be crowned Chart Topper, Kesha, who will be awarded the Trailblazer title.
