Glastonbury's Michael and Emily Eavis celebrated at Goldsmiths

Michael Eavis CBE and his daughter Emily were at yesterday's graduation ceremony at London's Goldsmiths College where they became Honorary Fellows of the prestigious institution for their inimitable services to music.

Michael Eavis CBE founded the legendary Glastonbury Festival and now runs the summer music extravaganza alongside his daughter Emily, and the pair were celebrated at Goldsmiths for their phenomenal achievements and dedication to the live event. Michael said:

"We're very pleased and very honoured to be invited back. After 47 years, to be still working... and for it still to be so popular is unbelievable."

Emily Eavis added: "It has evolved so much and changing so dramatically, and we have a lot of people who are studying live music courses or events courses, and the best thing you can really say to people is just to get experience in going to those events and building up experiences within that world."

Editor of the Evening Standard Sarah Sands, Professor Carlo Ginzburg and Dick Melly were also named Honorary Fellows of the university.
