Lauryn Hill to break musical hiatus with mini-tour

Following an extensive hiatus from music, Lauryn Hill has opened up about the possibility of a new recording and has also scheduled some live dates.

The former Fugees vocalist performed a couple of shows earlier in 2010 and is now looking to extend her stay with a limited number of gigs to ease her back in to touring. In an interview with NPR, she explained:

"With The Fugees initially, and even with 'Miseducation', it was very hip-hop — always a singing over beats. I don't think people have really heard me sing out. So if I do record again, perhaps it will have an expanded context. Where people can hear a bit more."

The ‘Killing Me Softly’ star will perform at the following venues:

  • December 20 - Wilbur Theater in Boston, MA
  • December 28 - Music hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY
  • January 1 - Bowery Ballroom in New York City, NY
  • January 29 - House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ
