U2 delayed new album after Trump's presidential victory

Rock band U2 have revealed that Donald Trump's recent presidential election success made them stop working on new album 'Songs Of Experience' because they were so shocked by the news that they felt compelled to take time out to consider how to move forward.

Chatting to the Rolling Stone recently, guitarist The Edge explained that Trump's election victory caused them to stop and take stock of what was unfolding in the world outside of music:

"The election (happened) and suddenly the world changed. We just went, 'Hold on a second - we've got to give ourselves a moment to think about this record and about how it relates to what's going on in the world.' Most of it was written in the early part of 2016, and now, as I think you'd agree, the world is a different place."

Earlier this week, The Edge joked about how the album might be released following 2014's release of 'Songs of Innocence', which was digitally uploaded to iTunes users' devices free of charge.

The band, meanwhile, recently announced a series of European and North American summer tour dates in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the band's album 'The Joshua Tree'. For more information, click here
