Micheal Eavis reveals Glastonbury's new name for 2019

Micheal Eavis says the Glastonbury Festival will be renamed The Variety Bazaar when it temporarily relocates in 2019.

The promoter told Glastonbury FM that the name will be preceded by 'The Glastonbury Festival team presents' to reflect the team behind the event. The festival will move to an as yet unknown English location in 2019 to protect the original Worthy Farm site.

Eavis said: "The Variety Bazaar. It's a good name, don't you think? But presented by The Glastonbury Festival Team; The Glastonbury Festival Team presents... the Variety Bazaar.

"[The site] is half way to the Midlands from here...and there’s only one landowner. I’ve got 22 landowners where I am now. I just wonder whether the next generation will want to negotiate with so many people. It’s a very difficult job to hold it together."

UPDATE: Organiser Emily Eavis said on Twitter: "We're still planning an event in the future at a different location - which we were calling Variety Bazaar. But Glastonbury Festival will always be called Glastonbury and will remain at Worthy farm!"
