Many celebrities to attend Women's March on Washington and global sister marches

Today (January 21) will see the Women's March on Washington, which has been organised both in protest against President Donald Trump and in support of women's rights, and there are also hundreds of sister marches taking place around the globe. 

The main event in Washington D.C. will see live performances from the likes of Janelle Monáe and Maxwell, and confirmed speakers include Scarlett Johansson and Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards.

A number of celebrities and music stars have told fans that they will be attending the organised marches and Chrissy Teigen, who is married to singer-songwriter John Legend, tweeted: "I was going to go to Sundance to support John tomorrow but feeling compelled to support my fellow women. See you at the women's march, DC."

Charlotte Church, who turned down an offer to perform at Trump's inauguration, revealed that she will "be at the women's March in Cardiff" to show solidarity and support. 

USA Today shared a list of famous names who have pledged to join the march, and it is as follows:

Uzo Aduba, Cristela Alonzo, Patricia Arquette, Danielle Brooks, Cher, Lea DeLaria, Diane Guerrero, Danai Gurira, Chelsea Handler, Scarlett Johansson, Margo Jefferson, Angelique Kidjo, Padma Lakshmi, Stephanie March, Shantell Martin, Debra Messing, Frances McDormand, Julianne Moore, Hari Nef, Katy Perry, Monica Raymond, Amy Schumer, Yara Shahidi, Alia Sherif, Kara Walker, Olivia Wilde, Constance Wu and Zendaya.

The London Women's March is due to begin at 12pm at the US Embassy, 24 Grosvenor Square, London, W1A 2LQ.
