Historic night for Chance the Rapper at Grammy Awards 2017

It was a historic night for Chance the Rapper who won the Best New Artist award and Best Rap Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards last night (February 12).

During his acceptance speech for Best New Artist, he said: “I claim this victory in the name of the Lord. I thank God for my mother and my father who have supported me since I was young… and for all of Chicago."

The rapper later returned to the stage when he also won Best Rap Album.

“I didn’t think we’d win this one, so I don’t have cool things to say this time,” he joked.

He also gave a live performance, backed by Kirk FranklinFrancis and the LightsTamela Mann and a gospel choir. He performed ‘How Great’, ‘All We Got’ and bits of ‘No Problem’ and ‘Blessings'.
