40 new blue plaques will be awarded this summer to honour local music artists or venues and you get to choose who receives one.

The plaques are set to be unveiled on Friday, June 9 as part of BBC Music Day and from now until February 26 every local BBC radio station in England and the Channel Islands will accept nominees from the public.

There are four points of consideration before choosing your ideal recipient and these are: innovative, influential, successful and dead. 

To have your say on who should receive an iconic blue plaque, you can email localmusiclegends@bbc.co.uk or share suggestions on social media platforms using #localmusiclegends. Nominations are set to close at midnight on Sunday, February 26.

The BBC has listed five suggestions to get listeners thinking about who or where they might like to nominate and these include the late George Michael's school in Hertfordshire, gig venue Peak Cavern in Derbyshire, and Freddie Mercury's market stall in London's Kensington Market,
