Train and Rod Stewart win big at the ASCAP awards

ASCAP (the American Society of Composers and Producers) hosted its 28th annual pop music awards ceremony last night, April 27, in Los Angeles and producer/songwriter Dr. Luke and rock band Train were the big winners.

The Songwriter of the Year gong was presented to Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, and Max Martin who are best known for their extensive work for Britney Spears. They scooped the title for writing five of the most popular tracks of 2010, including Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream' and Taio Cruz's 'Dynamite'.

Train picked up the Song of the Year award for their hit single, 'Hey, Soul Sister',  following its impressive chart run and vast amount of airplay. The track also enjoyed the 'Glee' treatment when the Dalton Academy Warblers performed it on the show.

Iconic singer Rod Stewart was honoured with the lifetime achievement Founders Award at the prestigious ceremony.
