Paul McCartney and John Lennon considered SNL reunion show

Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he and John Lennon almost made a joint appearance on Saturday Night Live, but at the last minute "elected to not go".

The 'Blackbird' singer-songwriter, and former member of The Beatles, explained to Access Hollywood that the show's producer, Lorne Michaels, offered them $3,000 (£1,875) to perform several songs for a skit, but because they viewed it as a work commitment decided to skip out:

"He (Lennon) said, 'We should go down, just you and me... We'll say, 'There's only two of us, we'll make half the money...' And for a second..."

"It would have been work and we were having a night off and so we elected to not go... It was a nice idea. We nearly did it."
