Elinor Alicia wins Mojo New Voice

Singer-songwriter Elinor Alicia, of Rothes, was selected as the Mojo New Voice for 2011.

After performing a live set in front of an invited audience, she was chosen from a judging panel of elite music industry figures.

She has been playing small gigs in Liverpool accompanied with her band, Deafen the Creatures. Her performance of her song, "Kill the Fire (Here they Come)" won her the title.

Her prize includes coverage in Mojo, a selection of music software, and career advice from insiders in the industry.

In an interview with the BBC upon winning the award, the pixie-haired musician said: "I had lost my faith in the music industry as I felt it had become cheap and simple. Entering the Glenfiddich Mojo New Voice competition however has helped me regain my love for music."
