T-Pain is leaving the auto-tune behind

T-Pain, king of the auto-tune, has revealed that he will ditch his signature sound for his forthcoming album because "you can't stick with one thing forever".

The 'Buy You A Drank' star will release a new record, 'rEVOLVEr', in the autumn and it won't be laced with his typically electronically altered vocals.

Instead, T-Pain will showcase a different side to his talents as the album features collaborations with Ke$ha, Pharrell Williams and Pitbull. He told Billboard:

"There's so much different stuff on it. I almost confused myself on what I wanted to do because I've gotten such a completely different audience from...the Taylor Swift stuff and the Bud Light commercial and Toshiba...I've just gotten so many other people and so many different audiences."

"I had to make different kinds of music for everybody but still keep it classic T-Pain at the same time. That got kind of confusing and hard, but it all worked out."

The rapper and singer became so well-known for his use of the tool that an iPhone app was created that allowed fans to recreate his sound using their own voices over his own backing tracks. Watch famous artists using the app here:
