Rumer wins MOJO Breakthrough Award

Rumer won MOJO’s coveted Breakthough Award last night (July 21).

She was joined by big winners Arctic Monkeys and John Grant at the Glenfiddich MOJO Honours List awards ceremony. Ringo Starr and Brian Wilson were also among the legends honoured.

MOJO editor Phil Alexander described the awards as a “triumph for music”.

32-year-old Rumer was born Sarah Joyce in Pakistan and has been working her way through music for a decade before signing with Atlantic. Her debut album, ‘Seasons Of My Soul’, has gone platinum in the past year, which reached number three in the UK album charts and began to make an impact worldwide.

"It has been a remarkable 12 months for Rumer," said Alexander. "It's all about the songs with her. That's what's made ‘Seasons of My Soul’ one of the biggest-selling British albums in recent memory."
