Cyndi Lauper's LGBT homeless shelter to open on September 1

Back in April, pop icon Cyndi Lauper announced that she was planning to open a shelter for homeless people in the LGBT community and she has now spoken in more depth about the project. 

In a recent interview, the 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' hitmaker revealed exciting details about the progress of the building and explained that there would be significant emphasis placed on helping residents build and devlop social skills and solid relationships:

"We'll be building from the ground up so our residents will have a brand new, modern building with studio apartments for each resident and both indoor and outdoor community space to socialise or attend education and recreation programmes."

"Each resident will be responsible for paying affordable rent based on their income and will receive ongoing assistance in obtaining employment best suited to their individual interests and skills."
