Freddie Mercury auction to be attended by former bandmates and friends

Friends and former bandmates of the late Freddie Mercury will attend an exciting auction in London next week.

The event, which will be held at London's Savoy Hotel on September 6, will see one of Mercury's guitars and an exclusive opportunity to appear in the We Will Rock You musical go up for auction, and the star's closest will be there.

Brian May and Roger Taylor will be present, as will comedian and superfan Rhys Thomas, who has put together a video tribute. Thomas told Sky news:

"What we tried to do was show Freddie's best moments, we wanted to show Freddie's humour. In Freddie's life time Queen were never that critically acclaimed, they were very successful but their peers never really respected them."

All proceeds will be given to the Mercury Phoenix Trust, which is an AIDS charity that was set up by the remaining members of Queen following Freddie's death in '92.
