Jape's new single, 'You Make The Love', is out on October 10
"You Make The Love is the most straightforward pop track on Ocean
of Frequency. It was an experiment to write a late 70s / early 80s STIFF Records type of tune, harking back to a time when Pop Punk was Wreckless Eric." according to Jape AKA Richie Egan.
YMTL is released on Music/Is/For/Losers on October 10th.
The single heralds the arrival of Ocean Of Frequency - Jape's 4th studio album - on October 17th and the follow up to
Ritual, the album that took the Choice Music Award, Ireland's equivalent of the Mercury in 2008.
The album draws it's inspiration from the likes of Prefab Sprout, Caribou and the solo albums of Brian Eno, to create earworm melodies with the musical innovation of Beck and Steve Mason. The idea for the title, Ocean of Frequency, says Egan "came from an interview with Michael Talbot, an American author who wrote some books linking science with mysticism. I feel the answer to religion lies somewhere in science and I like to think that we all float about in an ocean of frequency that we can't understand".
