Janet Jackson pulls out of Australian tour to be with her family

Grammy award-winning superstar Janet Jackson has pulled out of her forthcoming tour of Australia to be with her family during the manslaughter trial of her late brother's doctor, Conrad Murray.

The shows affected by her snap decision were due to take place later this week on October 26, 27 and 29, but she has since announced that a one-off concert will be held at the Rod Laver Arena on November 3 to make up for the unexpected change of plans.

Writing on her official website, Jackson explained:

"I want to thank my fans in Australia for their love, support and understanding. When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different. After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now. I'm looking forward to being with you for the Gold Coast, Sydney, and the Melbourne concerts. You are all so important to me. This saddens me in so many ways. I love you."
