Scissor Sisters to rock London at special 2012 Olympic games music event

Scissor Sisters have been one of the first acts confirmed to perform at a special pre-Olympic games music event in London.

The colourful superstars will rock London in 2012 at what will be a two-day event that is set to span 6 venues across the UK's capital. Each location will represent the continents featured on the Olympic flag and the Metro newspaper reports:

"European music will be at Trafalgar Square and Somerset House, with the Americas at the Tower of London, Asia at Battersea Park, Africa at Jubilee Gardens and Oceania at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich."

Ruth Mackenzie, one of the organisers of the BT River of Music event, told the media "the idea is simple and gorgeous."

"I hope that it is one that other Olympic host cities will pinch," she added. "This is a project of incredible scale. It’s a chance for artists to get beyond the playlist."

The event will take place on the weekend of July 21 and 22, and ticketing information will be available early next May. Watch a recent interview with the group below:
