The people of Detroit sign a petition against Nickelback

Nickelback are due to play the halftime show at a football match between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, but a petition led by the Lions backer may get in their way.

Dennis Guttman has started an online petition to get another band to play during the game instead of the Canadian rockers, most famous for their song, 'How You Remind Me'.

This is his plea:

"This game is nationally televised; do we really want the rest of the U.S. to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!? ... This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime".

Detroit has produced huge stars like Aretha Franklin, Alice Cooper, Madonna, Kid Rock, Eminem, Sufjan Stevens, Jack White and many others.

Thanksgiving falls on November 24 this year and so far, 30,000 people have signed the online petition.
