Arctic Monkeys' frontman: 'I don't know how to write hits any more'

Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys has revealed that he doesn't know how to write a hit single any more.

The band's frontman told The Sun newspaper that the musical landscape has changed dramatically since he had a string of Top 5 singles back in 2005 and 2007, and he no longer feels like he understands how to write an anthem:

"I have fucking forgotten how to do that… I don't know what that is any more, it's a different landscape these days."

He also opened up about his vocal ability and explained that it's not something that comes naturally to him so he is still working on his singing:

"I was never a singer. I have had to practice at that and writing melodies is something that didn't come naturally. I was more comfortable writing lyrics.”
