Miley Cyrus was caught on camera swearing at a supposed fan while on vacation in Costa Rica. 

The Disney starlet was there with her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth and the pair were making their way to a nearby helicopter when they were stopped by a group of devotees who wanted photos and autographs.

After obliging, Cyrus and her beau started to walk away when one of the fans yelled out "a**hole". The shock of this caused the 'Can't Be Tamed' superstar to turn around in amazement and ask incredulously, "What the f*ck? Are you for real?"

The incident was filmed, but Cyrus has since taken to her official Twitter account (December 22) to explain what really happened and she wrote:

"Been trying not to tweet & just enjoy the holidays but just to clear something up I would NEVER swear to a fan. When someone yells something SO rude making ME look like an "a**hole" infront of fans who I am more than happy 2 take a picture w/ i cant tolerate that kind of rudeness."

"Every1 who was there apologized 4 the womans brusque behavior. She obviously wasnt a fan. Hope every1 has a Merry Christmas! LOVE 2 ALL!"
