BBC Sound of 2012 winner Michael Kiwanuka confirms Jay-Z collaboration rumours

Michael Kiwanuka has confirmed rumours that he had been approached by Jay-Z about a possible collaboration.

The singer, who recently came top on the BBC's Sound of 2012 list, told Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 that the rumours were true - but that he hasn't heard much from the hip hop mogul since.

The rising soul star admitted that the they had been speaking via email, but that the pair haven't had time to meet up yet. Speaking about the rumour, he said:

"Yeah - I've kept that quiet! That was really interesting, but yeah, there were a few e-mails. But then it's a few e-mails that haven't really materialised. We were in New York and there was an e-mail, but only a few hours before we had to leave so we couldn't get it together."

As previously mentioned, Kiwanuka beat off competition from the likes of Frank Ocean and Skrillex to land at the top of the BBC Sound of 2012 list, which predicts which upcoming musicians will make the biggest impact on the year ahead.
