Soundgarden, Biffy Clyro added to Download Festival

Seminal grunge rockers Soundgarden announced their first visit to the UK since 1996 after they were confirmed to play at this year's Download Festival.

The band, fronted by Chris Cornell, will play the Donington festival on Sunday June 10.

In a batch of confirmations announced last night (January 16), Scottish trio Biffy Clyro, pictured below, will also be playing the festival, along with Chase and Status.

Other bands newly confirmed include Jack Black's comedy rock duo Tenacious D, You Me At Six and Machine Head.

In a statement, Soundgarden's Matt Cameron said: "We are beyond psyched to play Download 2012. It will be a huge year for the band and what better way to celebrate than bring it all to our UK family at Download. See you there!"
