Friendly Fires channelling The Shining as they write new album

Friendly Fires have revealed that they're channelling horror story The Shining as they write their third album.

The English trio told BBC 6Music that they're off to a log cabin in rural Sweden to pen new material.

They're conscious that tensions may arise as they spend so much time together in the cabin - but that's a risk they are willing to take as they look to explore music making. Edd Gibson said: "We're off for ten days just to be away from everything and do the exploratory music making, we will see how it goes."

Singer Ed Mcfarlane meanwhile added: "I think we are trying to force on an element of the film The Shining, or the book The Shining, as a cultured gentlemen who reads and doesn't just watch films. We're trying to alienate ourselves into a world of music alone and see what we come up with."
