Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter is mourning the death of his sister, Leslie (pictured centre), who sadly passed away yesterday in New York City. 

Both Nick and his brother Aaron carved out successful careers in music for themselves and their sister, who was only 25, looked set to follow in their footsteps, but the Carter family has now issued a statement to confirm the tragic news that she died on January 31:

"Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."
