Paula Abdul has become the latest star to leave the X Factor USA after she revealed the news on Twitter, citing "personal" reasons.

News broke yesterday that both Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones would not be returning for the second series of the TV talent show.

And last night (January 31) Abdul confirmed that she would be the next to leave, meaning that the hostless show only has two judges left - Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. She said:

"Yes, it's true; I won't be returning to The X Factor next season. I've learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations...Simon & I, along with Fox & Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, & I have absolute understanding of the situation."

She reiterated that she is still good friends with Cowell, and that she hopes the show will continue to enjoy success. She continued:

"Simon is, and will remain a dear friend of mine and I've treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle. I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams. This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful."
