JLS, One Direction nominate behind the scenes staff for award

The likes of JLS and One Direction have nominated members of the behind the scenes crew for a special 'Unsung Heroes' award.

A number of this year's BRIT Award nominees have taken part in the project, which is designed to raise awareness of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes in the music industry.

One Direction nominated songwriters Rami Yacoub, Carl Falk and Savan Kotecha, whilst Olly Murs gave the nod to his tour manager Marky Murphy, who he says is his "closest mate".

JLS meanwhile nominated social media maestro Katie Ray, who looks after their online presence. Speaking about Ray, JLS said:

"Katie works round the clock everyday of the week to ensure that we are on top of every social media network avenue and most importantly makes sure we are always up to date with the latest online programs and apps. Without Katie on our side we would be left behind with how quickly technology moves. No task is too much for Katie, she is an indispensable member of the JLS team and doesn't get enough credit so please vote for her to win this amazing, innovative and special award."

The winner of the award will be determined by the number of votes they receive from the public, with voting cast via the award's official website.
