Jack White to make live solo debut on SNL

Jack White will make his first ever solo live appearance when he performs on Saturday Night Live next month.

The former White Stripes front-man, who has also played in The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, will showcase his new material on the March 3rd episode of the iconic US comedy show, which is to be hosted by Lindsay Lohan.

The 36-year-old will then begin his first solo headline tour a week later in Chattanooga, Tennesse before travelling to the UK where he has been announced alongside the likes of Lana Del Rey, Jessie J and Florence + The Machine on the bill for Radio1’s Hackney Weekend in June.

When asked about his forthcoming self-produced solo debut album, Blunderbuss, which is released through his own Third Man Records label on Apr 23, White said the time felt right for him to go it alone:

''Blunderbuss is an album I couldn't have released until now. I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name.

''These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.''
