Final pre-BRITs backstage update

The 2012 BRIT Awards ceremony is due to begin in just under an hour's time (8pm BST) and the stars are preparing to step in front of the cameras ahead of the event's launch.

The luxuriously decorated backstage area is buzzing with anticipation and while all of the artists in attendance are hoping to win, 'Dance With Me Tonight' hitmaker Olly Murs expects that the award he is up for (British Single) will be given to either Ed Sheeran or vocal sensation Adele:

"If I was to put money on who I thought would be my main competitor in this category I’d probably say Adele. But then Ed Sheeran has had a great year as well - with 'The A-Team' especially. I think Adele steals it for me because of the performance she did at last year's BRITs. What a fantastic year she's had and what an incredible song."

UK rapper Professor Green is also feeling the pressure as he opened up about his nomination for the British Male prize and explained that singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is likely to take that title, too:

“Despite me having a great year across the board I'd probably put my money on Ed Sheeran. It's an incredible nomination, I'm flattered.”

The ceremony's seating arrangements have also set the stars' tongues wagging and blonde bombshell Pixie Lott is hoping to be near to Grammy award-winner Adele because she is "a massive fan" and would love to share the night's atmosphere with her:

"This year I’d like to meet Adele - I'm a massive fan and I'd love to be sat with her. I love Coldplay, I love Beyoncé, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, David Guetta, Jay-Z, Kanye West - there's loads of amazing people up for awards! So I wouldn't mind being on any of these people's tables."

Emile Sandé, meanwhile, doesn't mind who she is placed next to as long as her loved ones are by her side and she added: “I want to sit next to my family and the team that's supported me from day one.”

Other exciting backstage antics have so far included the Rizzle Kicks lads getting their hair cut and styled at Lee Stafford's pop up salon, Rihanna calling for a Revlon nail technician to give her an eye-catching manicure in her dressing room and Celebrity Juice presenter Keith Lemon having a Union Jack nail design painted on his middle finger.
