National Enquirer magazine slammed over "Whitney Houston coffin photo"

US magazine The National Enquirer has been criticised for publishing what is purported to be a photo of Whitney Houston inside a coffin.

The picture, which made the cover of the magazine, is said to have been called an image of beauty by a publisher of the magazine.

Fox News reports that publisher Mary Beth Wright told them that she thought the photo, which has sparked widespread criticism online, was "beautiful".

The image is said to have been taken from a funeral home and ran with the headline: "Whitney: The Last Photo!".

As previously reported, Houston was buried next to her father on Sunday (February 19), with a number of high profile guests paying their respects to the legendary singer.
