Emeli Sandé doesn't trust herself with the Critics' Choice BRIT Award

Emeli Sandé may have won the 2012 Critics' Choice BRIT Award, but she is reluctant to keep the Peter Blake-designed trophy in her possession because she is prone to losing things.

In a new interview, the 'Heaven' hitmaker explained that her forgetfulness often causes her to misplace belongings and she is concerned that her sleek BRITs prize may suffer the same fate so she has handed it over to her manager:

"I lose car keys and phones all the time. I have always lost things since I was a kid. I blamed it on being creative. I lost a clarinet when I was a kid and I still lose things a lot. The award itself is such a great design. My manager has got my BRIT so I don't lose it. He is going to keep it safe for me. He's got my passport. I focus on the music. He takes care of everything else.''

She also added to the Daily Record newspaper that she was disappointed at not being able to take the stage to receive her prestigious award, but won't let that detract from how proud she is to have scooped the coveted title:

"Nothing can take away from how happy I am about winning the Critics' Choice award. I was a bit disappointed with the way things went at the event, especially as my family were there too. But my album's No1, my single's No2 and I've got loads of stuff going on, so I really have nothing to complain about."

''I'm so grateful to be in this position and to have this kind of success already. It's all a dream come true.''
