Florence + The Machine, Kasabian and Foo Fighters big winners at the NME Awards

Florence + The Machine was the big winner at last night's NME Awards and collected 2 prizes. 

Welch was named the winner of both the Best Solo Artist and Best Track (for 'Shake It Out') categories, beating the likes of Adele, Lana Del Rey and Arctic Monkeys

Elsewhere, Kasabian picked up the Best British Band prize at the exciting Brixton Academy ceremony and member Tom Meighan dedicated their win to The Monkees frontman Davy Jones who died yesterday:

"I want to dedicate it to Davy Jones from The Monkees who died today. He was 66 years old. My mother loved The Monkees."

Katy B was awarded the Dancefloor Anthem trophy for her smash hit 'Broken Record', Best Live Band went to rockers Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters were given the Best International Band and Best Music Film gongs.

 

 

 

Noel Gallagher was crowned the NME's Godlike Genuis for his incredible career and dedicated his performance of 'If I Had A Gun' to his wife, telling the audience she was "the coolest person in the room".
