Lady Gaga sets worldwide record with 20 million Twitter followers

Pop icon Lady Gaga has set a worldwide record by becoming the first person ever to pass 20 million followers on social networking site Twitter.

The 'Marry The Night' sensation was just under the milestone on February 29 with 19.7 million fans connecting with her through the popular site, but as of today (March 5 at 9pm BST) she has racked up a phenomenal 20,119, 608 followers.

Justin Bieber is right behind Gaga with 18.1 million followers, pop princess Britney Spears has 13.6 and Katy Perry has 15.7 behind her.

Gaga's consistent growth in popularity has been helped recently by the launch of her Born This Way Foundation, which she kicked off with a special conference at Harvard University in Massachusetts last week.
