Madonna defends Adele: "How much she weighs has nothing to do with it."

Madonna has slammed Karl Lagerfeld's "ridiculous" claims that Adele is "a little too fat" and declared that when a talent is as impressive as hers, image is simply irrelevant.

The Queen of Pop addressed the fashion designer's recent comments about the 'Someone Like You' songstress and explained to The Sun newspaper that there's no need to critique her appearance because she is an incredible vocalist with a rare ability:

"That's horrible. That's ridiculous, that's just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I don't like it when anybody says anything bad about anyone - I don't like it. Adele's a great talent and how much she weighs has nothing to do with it.''

Madonna also went on to stress the importance of surrounding yourself with a positive team, especially in such an intrusive industry and added that as long as Adele fights to keep her integrity she will continue to enjoy a fantastic career:

"The thing for Adele to remember is at the end of the day, whether you rise or fall, it has so much to do with how you sustain yourself and keep your integrity and your inner strength."

"It is all about who you surround yourself with — friends and people who really do care about you, and care about your well-being beyond being a superstar. That's the most important thing."

'MDNA' is due to be released on March 26 and you can watch her teaser clip for 'Girl Gone Wild' below:
