Kasabian declare that they're ready for Reading

Kasabian have declared that they're ready for the challenge of headlining Reading & Leeds Festival after building up a strong enough back catalogue to choose from.

The’ Velociraptor’ rockers, who will join Foo Fighters and The Cure at the top of the bill at the August 24-26 event, haven't performed there since 2005, but guitarist Serge Pizzorno says they’re now ready to take centre stage:

''If you do it [headlining] too early you suffer. You need four albums to headline a festival without a doubt, you don't have enough tunes otherwise. So this has all gone to plan.''

The 31-year-old said the festival holds happy memories for the band due to the reaction they received during their first appearance there in 2004: ''We played 'LSF' and the crowd carried on singing it, and this is no s**t, they must have been there for about four hours. It was incredible.''

Singer Tom Meighan also admitted he’s looking forward to their performance:

''Reading and Leeds is the one to play. We've done V Festival and that was great, but Reading and Leeds is nice. What's good is we've been away from it for so long, which is great.''
