The Script's Danny O'Donoghue admits he's The Voice's underdog

The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue has revealed that he is fully aware of his underdog status on The Voice.

The 31-year-old, who joins Jessie J, Tom Jones and Will.i.am as a coach on the BBC talent show which kicks off next Saturday, admitted to The Sun’s TV Biz column that many viewers may not know who he is:

"Of course I am the underdog on The Voice. There are three of the most famous people in the world... and then me."

Eyebrows were raised when the Irish singer landed the role over Will Young back in December, but Danny says his fifteen years of experience justifies his appointment:

"I do have a raw view of the industry. I have been in this industry since the age of 16 and I have spent nearly half my life in it.

"I think I have built up a vast amount of experience in all things music and I've done everything from producing to owning a mini record label and starting The Script.

"I want to teach some of the things I have learned along the way to my own group and tell them the best way to go about their careers."
