Paul Weller calls for musical revolution

Paul Weller has called for a musical revolution after describing the current rock scene as ‘safe and boring.’

The 53-year-old singer, whose 11th studio album, Sonik Kicks is expected to debut at number one on Sunday’s chart, told the NME that the industry needs to be revitalised by a new band:

"I find it all a bit safe and boring at the minute. There's not enough proper f***ing attitude. People are not saying it like they really mean it.

"We need another musical revolution, which has got to come from the roots upwards. I'm waiting for that to happen, for the younger generation to shake it up again because it f***ing needs it."

The former Jam frontman also revealed that despite teaming up with former bandmate Bruce Foxton for 2010’s Wake Up The Nation, he has no plans to resurrect the mod trio in the future:

''That whole nostalgia thing doesn't do anything for me. Reforming The Jam definitely isn't for me. I like what I'm doing now. I'm moving on.''
