Author criticises Katy Perry video for "Marine propaganda"

A best-selling author has criticised Katy Perry's 'Part Of Me' video for glorifying violence and promoting the military.

Naomi Wolf, who has penned books such as 'The Beauty Myth' and 'The End of America', posted on her Facebook page that people should be boycotting the singer for what she calls "Marine propaganda".

Wolf added that whilst she used to like the singer, she reckons the video is at times "shameful". She said:

"Have you all seen the Katy Perry marines video? It is a total piece of propaganda for the Marines…I really want to find out of she was paid by them for making it…it is truly shameful. I would suggest a boycott of this singer whom I really liked – if you are as offended at this glorification of violence as I am."

Perry unveiled the video on March 16 and is seen cutting her hair short and joining in on military life.

The track immediately hit No.1 in the UK singles chart and can be found on Katy Perry's new release 'Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection'.
