One Direction make appearance on Saturday Night Live

One Direction continued their US invasion last night by appearing on the iconic comedy show, Saturday Night Live.

The X-Factor boyband, who also could be seen playing themselves on an episode of iCarly shown a few hours earlier, performed their Billboard Top 10 hit, ‘What Makes You Beautiful,’ and UK single, ‘One Thing,’ on the show, which was hosted by Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara.

The quintet, who recently sold out their date at Madison Square Garden within minutes, also showed up dressed in comedy wigs, fake moustaches and 70s-style clothing to play Carlitos, Pepito, Martito, Miguelito and Dick, aka Juan Direction, in the spoof talk show sketch, 'The Manuel Ortiz Show.'

Several of the group later took to Twitter to express their excitement at appearing on the show. Louis said, “Wow, that was so much fun!,” whilst Harry posted, “Thank you so much to @nbcsnl  for having us. That was a lot of fun and we'll never forget it .x”
