Madonna admits she needs to be a tougher mum

Madonna has admitted she needs to be a tougher mum after discovering that her daughter Lourdes had taken up smoking.

The 53-year-old, who yesterday promised fans that her upcoming world tour will be a ‘feast for the eyes and ears,’ told NBC's Today that she was disappointed in seeing a paparazzi picture of her teenage daughter smoking a cigarette in New York:

“(I) wasn't very happy, but honestly, I don't think I'm as tough as I should be. I think I need to be maybe tougher. It's hard -- every day is a negotiation. But cigarette smoking I'm not very fond of -- for anyone."

When challenged about her use of cigarettes in the video for last single, ‘Girl Gone Wild,’ she said: "I don't smoke. That's just an accessory. There's a difference. (Lourdes) smoked that cigarette before I did that video!"

The ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ singer, who recently admitted that her four children don’t like some of her music, went onto reveal that the public see a different Madonna than the one "that comes home and says, 'Have you done your homework?' and 'Why are you wearing that?' and 'Why did you say that?' and 'What are you eating that for?'"
