The Darkness reveal hopes to collaborate with Lady Gaga

The Darkness have revealed they hope to collaborate with Lady Gaga after the US superstar invited the band to be the support act on her Born This Way European tour.

The Suffolk quartet, who reformed last year after splitting in 2006, told the NME they feel they could create something special if they got the chance to perform together on stage.

Frontman Justin Hawkins said: ''We were chosen by her. She had a shortlist of artists available and she didn't like any of them, so she chose us instead.

''Will we collaborate? I'm sure there's a cover we could do. It would be quite vaudevillian and spectacular.''

The 37-year-old, who worked with the likes of Meatloaf and Adam Lambert during the band’s absence, went onto declare his admiration for the ‘Poker Face’ singer when asked about their upcoming shows:

''It's a real honour, she's got a brilliant vibe. It'll give us a chance to learn something from her show as well, and steal it for ourselves.

''I'm a big fan of everything about Gaga, her music, her persona, the weirdness. It's great.''
