Rita Ora scores midweek No.1 single with 'R.I.P.'

Newcomer Rita Ora has landed a midweek No.1 this afternoon (May 9) with her single 'R.I.P.'.

The song, which was written by Canadian rapper Drake and produced by popular duo Chase And Status, has managed to topple Tulisa's debut solo offering 'Young' (now at No.2) and also fought off tough competition from Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' (No.4) and Alex Clare's 'Too Close' (No.3).

The Official Charts Company revealed that if she "can maintain her lead until Sunday, she'll be the first person to win TWO Official Singles Chart Number 1 Awards."

Far East Movement's 'Live My Life, which also features teen sensation Justin Bieber, has made an appearance at No.7, Emeli Sandé's 'My Kind Of Love' is a new entry at No.24 and Rihanna has moved up 8 places to No.13 with 'Where Have You Been'.
