Adam Lambert: 'I have more in common with current female artists'

Superstar Adam Lambert is due to unveil his brand new sophomore album, 'Trespassing', next week in the USA and explained that as an artist he seems to defy the typical genre boundaries.

Although the 'Better Than I Know Myself' hitmaker admitted to Billboard.com that he sees himself as a pop act, he opened up about how his new record merges sounds and styles to the point where he can't identify fully with his contemporaries - especially the male singers:

"There's not a blueprint for me to follow. There are female artists I can look at that I find more in common with than the male artists, because they're blending the pop, dance and theatricality . . . but currently there aren't a lot of guys who go there."

He also talked briefly about his upcoming shows with iconic rock band Queen and admitted that while certain people may shoot him down for trying to replace the late Freddie Mercury, they can talk all they want because he is staying true to his own style and background with the concerts:

"There are people in the industry or fans who will look at that statement and say, 'But it's Queen!'. I know that, and I know it's a big honor. But the most important thing for me is to be authentic. And I'll be the most authentic doing the music I wrote."
