Jack Black's Tenacious D set to rock the UK albums chart this week

Jack Black and Kyle Gass' band, Tenacious D, are set to rock the UK charts this weekend as their new offering, 'Rize Of The Fenix', has entered the midweek albums update at No.1.

The exciting new record shot straight in at the top spot earlier this afternoon (May 16) and if it maintains its lead until Sunday when the positions are confirmed it will give the duo their highest charting album in the UK to date. It also knocked Keane's 'Strangeland' down a place to No.2.

Black recently told Reuters that he believes whole-heartedly in his new cut and expects it to do well:

"I do love Jack White, I love the Foo Fighters, and Goyte, but our album is better than all of those. In a hundred years' time, no-one will remember Gotye or the rest, but the shining beacon of The D - they're going to start religions after us!"

Garbage's 'Not Your Kind Of People' has made an appearance at No.5, Glee's 'Glee: The Music, The Graduation Album' has entered this afternoon at 15, and Gossip's 'A Joyful Noise' debuted at No.35.
