Adele's '21' shifts 9 million copies in the USA

Songstress Adele is celebrating yet another career milestone today (May 18) as it has been announced that her sophomore album '21' has now sold over 9 million copies in the USA.

The 'Someone Like You' superstar, who won the Songwriter of the Year prize at yesterday's Ivor Novello Awards in London, has shifted an incredible amount of records stateside making it the 29th album since 1991 to achieve the impressive feat.

'21' is currently at No.2 on the Billboard 200 chart and this marks its 64th week in the line up.

She took to social networking site Twitter earlier this afternoon to share a photograph of herself with her new award with her followers and wrote: "Loving my Ivor! Thank you so much x"
