The singer, who was formerly a judge on Popstars: The Rivals, will take a seat at the Liverpool audition this week (May 23).

The Press Association reports that an X Factor spokeswoman has confirmed the news.

She has been drafted in as a guest judge on X Factor in the past, making an appearance in 2010.

The show's supremo Simon Cowell has yet to land a permanent judge to replace the departed Kelly Rowland, who jumped ship after only one series on the show.

Cowell has of course recently snapped up the likes of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato for the US version of the show.
